(Ref.: Excerpt from the inaugural address delivered by Dr. Narendra Jadhav, the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, University of Pune on December 27, 2007 :
…… “ It is interesting to note that this oldest scientific Society in India was founded in 1907 with Head Quarters in Pune. Its Library was in Pune right from 1907 till 1950. If the Society needs some assistance from the place where it was founded then we shall be pleased to extend facilities for establishing its Head Quarters in Pune University. We shall be very happy to be of some assistance in this regard. We have already taken steps to assist IMS and have permitted to have Editorial Office of the Journal of IMS in the Department of Mathematics of our University”. …… ).
The open offer made by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of the Pune University was considered very favourably by the Council and the following resolution was passed.
It is resolved to shift the Head Quarters (Registered Office) of the Indian Mathematical Society to the Department of Mathematics, University of Pune, Pune.
